What happens after you apply
Step 1
Traveller details
Names exactly as printed on the passport, plus passport dates, for everyone travelling.Step 2
Your documents
The 14 documents to upload are listed above, each with the reason it is asked for. Upload what you have; come back for the rest.Step 3
We check them
Someone goes through every document before anything is sent, against the same list you uploaded to. If an item would get the application refused, you get a note saying which one and why, and a chance to replace it.Step 4
Review and pay once
You check everything, then pay the all-in price in one charge. Nothing is added after you pay.Step 5
Your appointment
We book the earliest slot we can reach. The 20–25 working days count from your appointment, and you get a firm delivery date once a slot is confirmed.
We will not promise you a date we cannot control
A Norway visa requires an in-person appointment and biometrics. The 20–25 working day estimate starts from your appointment, not from the day you pay — because the appointment queue belongs to the consulate, not to us. You will get a firm delivery date the moment your slot is confirmed, and not a moment before.
Things worth knowing before you pay
The constraints that actually get applications refused, with where each one comes from.
Good to know: Norway's fee is paid online; VFS collects its own at the counter
The Schengen visa fee for an adult is EUR 90, and Norway takes it when you register the application on the UDI portal, before any appointment exists. VFS Global then charges EUR 20 per applicant when you hand the file in. Whatever a package quotes, those two lines are set by Norway and by VFS, not by the agent. The visa fee pays for the examination of your file, so a refusal does not return it.

Good to know: A first Schengen application means going to VFS yourself
If Norway would be your first Schengen visa, or your fingerprints have never been taken for one, you attend a VFS Global centre in person for a photo and ten fingerprints and leave your passport there; the visa comes back as a sticker inside it. Families and groups book one centre for one day so everyone is enrolled together. Prints given for a Schengen visa within the past 59 months can usually be reused, though the embassy may still ask you to appear. Children under 12 are photographed but not fingerprinted.

Important: The embassy's clock starts when it receives the file, not at VFS
Norway's embassy in New Delhi says a decision usually takes about 15 working days from the day your file reaches it, and the file travels there from VFS by courier: roughly two days from Delhi, four to six from other Indian cities. When a case is referred to the Directorate of Immigration in Oslo, the rules allow up to 45 days. Plan on 20 to 25 working days end to end. A round-trip reservation is enough for the file; Norway's own advice is not to buy the ticket until the visa is granted.

Good to know: Norway is outside the EU but inside Schengen, so one clock covers the trip
The sticker Norway issues is a Schengen visa: it opens the whole area, and nights in Sweden, Denmark or Finland draw on the same allowance as nights in Bergen. That allowance is 90 days inside any rolling 180-day window, whatever dates the embassy prints on your particular visa. Being outside the EU changes nothing at the border; the officer checks the Schengen count.

Good to know: Apply to Norway only if Norway is the point of the trip
For a journey through several Schengen countries, the file goes to the embassy of the main destination: the country where the purpose of the trip lies, and for a holiday, usually the one with the most nights. Norway's embassy will want your dates and purpose written down to show that. When no single country stands out, the application goes to the one you enter first. The wrong embassy hands the file back without examining it, and the appointment is spent.

Good to know: Insurance is read as a document, so the certificate has to say two things
The embassy checks the policy certificate, not your intentions. It has to state that cover applies in every Schengen state, since the visa lets you cross into neighbours, and it has to state an amount of at least EUR 30,000 for medical treatment, emergency care and repatriation or death. A policy that names only Norway, or that stops before your return date, falls short. Buy it before the appointment, dated for the whole period you request.

Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI); applications lodged in India are decided by the Royal Norwegian Embassy, New Delhi, with VFS Global as the external service provider
If your paperwork is straightforward and you have the time, applying direct costs you only the authority’s own fees. What you pay us for is set out below.
What you are actually paying us for
The question every visa site avoids answering.
Checked against the current rules
We verify every document against Norway's requirements as they stand this week, not as they stood last year.
Only the documents you actually need
Your checklist changes with your profile — salaried, self-employed, retired, student, minor. You will not be asked for paperwork that does not apply to you.
Appointment secured for you
We hold and book your slot at the visa centre, and re-book it free if it slips.
Forms completed correctly
We prepare and pre-fill the application form. Form errors are the most common avoidable cause of refusal.
One named person on your file
Not a ticket queue. You get the name and direct line of the person handling your application.
Status you can see without logging in
A private tracking link with real timestamps at every stage, and a message on every change.
What it does not buy: influence over the decision. No one can sell you that. The Norway authorities decide, and they decide alone.
